Kathy DeBoer Executive Director American Volleyball Coaches Association Kathy DeBoer is the Executive Director of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), a position she has held since February 1, 2006. The AVCA, with over 3,500 members worldwide, is a member-funded, non-profit organization that advocates for the sport at all levels by providing training, awards programs, programming and publications that serve the volleyball coaching community. A nationally known public speaker, DeBoer travels the country promoting the sport and acting as the liaison between the AVCA and the volleyball community at large. DeBoer, who earned a bachelor's degree in humanities from Michigan State University, spent 18 years in intercollegiate athletics at the University of Kentucky, beginning as head volleyball coach, and finishing as Senior Associates Athletics Director. Immediately prior to working at the AVCA, she was Commissioner of General Services for the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government. DeBoer is married to Mark Pittman, and resides in Lexington.
