David Witty Vice President & General Manager Husker Sports Network David Witty joined Host Communications as the Vice President and General Manager of the Husker Sports Network in December of 2006 after spending 21 years with the Kansas City Royals. Witty spent his final two seasons with the Royals as the Vice President-Communications and Marketing. He was named an officer of the club on Jan. 13, 2003, and served as the club's Vice President-Broadcasting and Public Relations in 2003 and 2004. Previously he served as the Director of Team Travel from 1987-2000 and as the Senior Director of Media Relations in 2001 and 2002. Within his duties in communications and marketing, Witty oversaw the promotion, imaging and marketing of the Royals in the six-state region. His areas of responsibility included Media Relations, Public Relations, Royals Charities and Marketing, which includes advertising, promotions and game entertainment. He also directed the operation and expansion of the Royals Radio Network and Royals Alumni activities. Witty served as the Vice President-Operations & Public Relations of the Royals Sports Television Network (RSTN), LLC, which was developed in 2003 and serves over two million subscribers in the six-state television territory. He was also the Royals representative on the Major League schedule committee and coordinated the regular season and Spring Training schedules from 1990-2007. Witty joined the Royals as a public relations intern in 1986 and worked as a PR assistant from 1987-95 assisting with the media guide and game day activities. Witty received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting with a minor in Radio-TV from Kansas State University in 1985 and a Master of Science Degree in Sports Administration from St. Thomas (Miami, Fla.) University in 1986. He resides in Lincoln, Neb., with his wife, Carla, and sons, Scott and Brett. |
